Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino 2017

$143.99

| /

Region: Montalcino, Italy
Grape: Sangiovese
First Glance: Structured and powerful Brunello
Acclaim: 90 points

All of Podere Brizios vineyards are located on the Southwest-facing slope of the Montalcino Hill. This is the warmest area of Montalcino, and it overlooks the sea from its 300 - 350 meters of altitude. The wines here exude intensity and ripeness, balanced by grippy tannins and Sangiovese's natural acidity.

The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and spends 38 months in untoasted, large format French oak, and spends an additional 6 months in bottle before release.

The review:
90 points, Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast
Smoke, espresso and tobacco aromas lead the nose while whiffs of iris and crushed black olive stay in the background. On the forward, approachable palate, enveloping, fine-grained tannins accompany fleshy black cherry, grilled rosemary and licorice. Drink through 2027
